Chapter 585 – Deciding For You

“Damn brat, die!”

After breaking through the wall, the seventh-level warrior, the head of the royal guards, raised his axe and jumped towards the kid to complete the king’s orders!

But in that instant, he heard the king yell,

“Stop! It was a mistake! A mistake!!!”

“What? A mistake!?”

How would he dare continue his attack after the king’s order? So he wanted to stop, but he already leaped up, so how could he stop in midair?

But there was no choice, if the king wanted him to stop, then he had to stop! He could only shift the axe that was aiming at Lin Xiao’s head to the side.

Because it was too sudden, it was difficult to move too much, even if Lin Xiao’s head wouldn’t be split open, he would lose an arm!

Ah, what should he do!?

“Kid! What are you standing there for!? Defend or avoid it, hurry up and do something!”

He saw that Lin Xiao still wasn’t doing anything and was just standing there watching him. It was over!

“Please move!”

The captain was praying while Lin Xiao shut his eyes.

Did he shut his eyes to die?

No, he just didn’t want to see the captain’s distorted expression.

It was an instant, but the maid behind Lin Xiao gently pulled him back. She didn’t use much strength and it just shifted Lin Xiao’s body by a small distance to avoid the fatal strike.

“He avoided it? … How???”

The captain stared at Lin Xiao in shock like he was looking at a monster. He never would have thought that with Elena’s radar, Lin Xiao has already stepped into the realm of a grand magician and these normal attacks were nothing to him.

Although Lin Xiao wasn’t hurt, but the captain himself suffered. Due to his large size and the heavy armor he was wearing, he created a large hole in the ground as he crashed down.

It wasn’t just him that fell, the rest of them weren’t in any better shape.

Everyone rushed in ready to fight, but the people in the front who heard the king stopped immediately, while the people behind who couldn’t hear clearly still continued to rush in and they all collided into each other.

“Move forward idiot, why did you stop?”

“Move my ass, the king told us to stop!”

“But I’m already moving, if you don’t move… ah!”

“W-what are you doing? … Ah! M-my ass!”

The room turned into a mess as they all crashed against each other. The sixteen royal guards turned into clowns as they slipped and slid around each other without any enemies. Then they all groaned while lying embarrassingly on the ground.

“Puh… is this some kind of comedy show? Well I admit it was pretty amusing.”

Lin Xiao felt the axe that barely skimmed him and the defeated group of royal guards and held his mouth while snickering.

They were able to knock themselves out without even fighting, wasn’t that hilarious?

Though that may not have been a bad thing, if they forced Lin Xiao to act, then they might not just be simply laying down on the ground while groaning…

“Sigh, you… useless…”

George didn’t know whether to laugh or cry and didn’t know whatever he should rebuke or praise them.

The good news was that they were able to stop in time and didn’t hurt Lin Xiao, but the bad news was that…

Because they appeared George’s plan was exposed! He had thought that he could just vehemently deny it, but now, he couldn’t explain his way out of it!

“So father, is there anything else you’d like to say? Oh, I know, you must want to explain that they aren’t your people, and they’re assassins that are unrelated to you, right?”

“Well… uh, I…”

“Not answering? Then I’ll take that as a yes…”

Claire smiled and picked up the large axe and had killing intent.

George suddenly had a bad feeling.

“W-what are you doing?”

“Don’t worry father, since they’re assassins, then I’ll help you kill them.”

“Ah? Y-you…”

“How dare they barge into the king’s private quarters… unforgivable!”

Claire raised the axe high above the captain and stepped on his chest while preparing to swing.

“Claire, no!!!”

King George couldn’t help but cry out to stop her.

“Okay, it was me… I set up the ambush! They’re innocent! Let them go!”

“Oh? Is that so…”

Swoosh!

The axe swung down and stopped just before the captain’s neck, and he almost passed out from the intense pressure.

“Since the king pleaded for you, then forget it… so, scram!”

“Thank you princess, thank you! … We’ll scram right away!”

The captain almost cried out as he endured the pain and wobbled up. He bowed in apology and beckoned his comrades to retreat. He brushed by Lin Xiao as he left and Lin Xiao patted his shoulder while comforting him, “Sorry, you sure don’t have it easy.”

He was supposed to kill Lin Xiao and it ended up turning around on him, and in the end it was Lin Xiao who comforted him!

So Lin Xiao was a good person and the king was a bad person!

“Sigh… since it’s come to this, let me just speak honestly.”

After everyone else left, the atmosphere in the room became more and more heavy. Seeing as he couldn’t avoid it, George could only sigh and then spoke the truth.

“That’s right, I wanted to kill Lin Xiao! I can’t trust a kid that came out of nowhere, and you like him so much so it would be easy for him to trick you, so I wanted to deal with him for you!”

“But… how do you know he’ll trick me? Even if he will eventually, then it won’t be too late for you to kill him then! You can’t punish someone before they’re guilty, that’s not what a king should do!”

“Good! Very good! You’ve grown a lot.”

George laughed out loud, but he quickly shook his head and responded, “But I didn’t do this as a king, but as a father.”

“W-what do you mean?”

“I didn’t want to tell you… but I only have a month left.”

“What? A month?”

“Yes, they said I can live for at most a month more, so I won’t last to the day when he tricks you, so I could only get rid of him in advance to reduce the risk… so, can you understand me?”

“Father… you!?”

“Hehe, don’t feel bad… that may be the case, but I realize that my concerns were necessary!”

George didn’t want to see Claire sad, so he laughed and spoke of happy things.

“Today, let your father decide something for you!”
