The crowd parted and a beautiful woman walked though… no, strictly speaking, she rolled through.
Lin Xiao quickly leaped off the carriage and walked next to Snow, then bent over and pinched her ear and quietly questioned her.
“Hey, damn brat, why did you bring her here?”
“Hm… don’t pull my ear… didn’t you want me to take care of ShenDai Ying, is there anything wrong with bring her along with me?”
“Still making excuses?”
Lin Xiao let go of her ear then pinched her chubby cheeks and pulled.
“Mhmmf.. shtop… puwwing my face!”
“Then tell me what’s going on if you don’t want me to rip it off.” Lin Xiao let go and got real close to her.
“Okay, okay, I’ll tell you! … It’s simple, she knew you were going to the front lines, so she wanted to come see you off, so I brought her.” Snow responded as she rubbed her cheeks.
“I see… wait! Why did she know? I never told her! Did you sell me out?”
“… Don’t make it sound so bad, w-what choice did I have? She won’t stop asking me, how could I hide it from her?”
Seeing as how she was revealed, Snow quickly hid behind Elona and used her as a shield.
“Do you not know how to pretend that you don’t know?”
“But I’m an honest girl, I won’t lie!”
“Hmph, that’s the lamest joke I’ve ever heard!”
“Hm… what’s wrong if I did say it? You were clearly peeking on her before you left today morning, if you were so reluctant to leave, what are you pretending for!”
“Y-you.. saw?”
“I obviously didn’t see, but Elona saw everything… she was going to help ShenDai Ying wipe her legs, but never expected to see a cowardly pervert standing at the door, puh… how laughable!”
“I! … Damn brat, how dare you laugh at me, just watch me rip it off!”
Snow jumped and continued to use Elona as a shield to hide from Lin Xiao as they ran circles around her.
At that time, they heard a gentle laugh that interrupted them.
“Okay Lin Xiao, stop being angry at her.”
“Sister Ying? I… uh…”
Lin Xiao stopped when she appeared in front of him and didn’t know what to say.
But ShenDai Ying was still gentle and saw his embarrassment and didn’t force him, and just quietly whispered something to Snow.
Snow’s eyes lit up and quickly nodded, she waved her hand and got everyone to retreat, including herself. She even pulled ShenDai Ying’s hands thankfully, before taking everyone else a distance away and hid from her brother and waited for ShenDai Ying.
“Hehe, they have so many people, so they would be in the away if they stayed, right? I got them to leave so we can speak freely.”
ShenDai Ying smiled and explained while reaching out a hand and pointing to a grassy area nearby like she was inviting Lin Xiao to go over with her.
Lin Xiao scratched his head and sighed then pushed her wheelchair away to the grassy area.
“Don’t blame Snow, I forced her to tell me and I insisted on coming today.”
“Okay… but I saw you asleep before I left, how did you come so quickly?”
“That’s because I was pretending to be asleep!”
“Hah? Pretending?”
“Of course! Think about what time it was, I don’t like to sleep in like you, so I was already awake, but I noticed you at the door, so I was pretending.”
“Uh… it seems like Snow’s been a bad influence.”
Lin Xiao didn’t know how he should explain himself to her. He originally wanted to leave secretly, but he ended up being caught red-handed. So he couldn’t escape the talking he’ll get, he might even be dragged back!
ShenDai Ying was the most jealous out of all the women he knew! If she found out about him almost getting engaged and becoming the lead negotiator for free and helping with a risky mission, things might get out of hand.
“Sister Ying, actually, I… I…”
Lin Xiao didn’t know where to start.
He felt like if he told her the truth, that he was taking a risk to help her, that would feel like he’s trying to purposely make himself look good.
If he found another excuse, it would be hard to convince her, since Snow already blabbed.
What should he do?
Just as Lin Xiao was hesitating, she grabbed his hands to comfort him.
“Okay Lin Xiao, you don’t have to be so nervous. I know what you’re worried about, but you don’t have to say anything and I won’t ask. I understand, you just have to keep doing what you think is right, and I believe you can succeed!”
“… Sister Ying?”
He never expected to be her so considerate and even encouraged him, that made him relax a lot.
“I thought you would…”
“You thought I was here to bring you back? I’m not an unreasonable woman! … Even if I’m reluctant to let you go, I’ll still fully support you!”
And so, the two tightly held each others hands, even if no words of parting were spoken, that was enough.
“Okay, it’s getting late, you should get going… I also wanted to go with you, but I can’t really help in this state.” ShenDai Ying let go of his hand and pointed to her wheelchair.
